Designing and making wedding favours, gorgeous gift boxes and unique origami table scatters for someone’s wedding is why I love what I do! It is so much fun working with brides- and grooms-to-be and getting those little finishing touches just right.
Even though I only use recycled paper and salvaged materials such as pre-loved books and gift wrap, I can create beautiful bespoke paper products that accommodate any colour scheme or wedding theme. Traditionally, wedding favours were known as bonbonnieres and were given to wedding guests of wealthy or royal couples as a gesture of appreciation for joining the couple on their wedding day. These would usually be sweets contained in boxes made of porcelain, precious stones or crystal. Once sugar became more readily available, five sugared almonds presented in a small bag or box symbolising the five blessing of health, wealth, happiness, longevity and fertility were more common.
Although sugared almonds (also known as confetti) is still a popular traditional choice, many couples choose different favours for their wedding guests now. At Oast House Gifts we can help find any filler you would like to add to your favour boxes. Our most popular choices are:
- Homemade milk chocolate fudge –
- After Eight mints / Elizabeth Shaw chocolates / Bendicks
- Sugared almonds
- Cadburys mini cream eggs
- Percy Pig sweets
- Hersey Kisses
Not so Sweet Treats:
Personalised Gift Boxes
Gifts for those friends and family members that help you with all wedding preparations and on the actual day itself can be very special. I hand make gift boxes that can be personalised to make your gifts even more special. By just adding names, dates, and on-the-day roles to box bows, it creates something people want to hold onto and helps them remember your special day. I print my own paper and can create many different designs – the sky is the limit!
Origami butterfly and sailboat table scatters are the most popular designs. Both designs look great around wedding cakes and sprinkled on table tops. Add initials, names, dates, etc to the butterflies and sailboats to make them unique to your wedding day.
